Orangeville Prep Bears The Grind Session Toronto Team Analysis
Style of Play:
Orangeville Prep is a team filled with athletes who rely on their athleticism rather than having skilled players who can create offense for themselves and others. As such, they are a team that operates best in transition using their quickness, explosiveness, and ability to fill the lanes well to generate quick easy baskets. In the half-court, they struggle to score. They have too many non-shooters, which affects spacing in the paint and clogs it for their athletes looking to operate inside and play to their strengths. They operate in the post using their strength and physicality to create advantages against smaller players. The high post is where they set up everything either going to a push shot or floater with good touch, putting the ball on the floor and taking a few dribbles to get to the rim, or finding players along the three-point line for catch and shoot three-pointers. They have active backdoor cutters who find the open space in the paint for high-percentage shots. They have the bigs to set good hard picks and short roll, which is another offensive action they can go to. Running a big lineup, they are an effective rebounding team getting extra possessions and second chance-opportunities.
On the defensive end, they have many players who can protect the rim and block shots. They have timing, instincts, and cover ground when blocking shots. Their perimeter players guide their matchup and funnel them towards the rim protection or help defense. They are quick to get back in transition and try to limit opponents from getting easy fast-break points on dunks and layups. They want the fast-paced game to favor them and limit it for opposing teams. Their guards are picking up full-court and applying resistance trying to make it harder for opposing teams' ball-handlers to advance the ball.

Player Analysis:
Bami Olusakin
Position: F
Height: 6 Feet 8 Inches
Team: Orangeville Prep
Class: 2026
Uncommitted
Bami Olusakin sets good picks and frees up his teammates. He goes to a back to the basket type of game using his size, strength, and physicality to get deep post positioning. He plays out of the high post going to a push shot or floater with good touch or finding teammates for catch and shoot three-pointers. He has an effective enough handle to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim for straight-line drives. He has the body and frame to absorb and finish through contact and physicality. He can cut to the rim with his mobility and find open space in the paint.
He has a high motor crashing the glass as an undersized big and grabbing tough contested rebounds through traffic. He gets extra possessions and second-chance opportunities and limits them for the opposing team.
On the defensive end, he is a switchable defender who moves his feet well allowing him to cut off driving lanes.
Isaiah Lukusa

On the defensive end is where his calling card is and where his physical abilities stand out. He is an effective rim protector for his size. He has timing and instincts to block shots. He is also quick to get back in transition and makes sure not to allow the opposing team any easy looks or points using his length to contest, alter, or block shots. He has shown flashes of being a switchable defender in the pick and roll when his teammates have trouble fighting through picks. He lacks footspeed but makes up for it by moving his feet well and using his physical tools to be physically imposing on smaller players.
Noah D'Acre
Position: G
Height: 6 Feet 3 Inches
Team: Orangeville Prep
Class: 2028
Uncommitted
Noah D'Acre has the skillset of a combo guard but is at his best when he is playing off the ball. He moves well without the ball either cutting to the rim or moving along the three-point line making it exhausting for defenders to chase him around. In catch and shoot scenarios from three-point range, he has a quick release and fluid shooting mechanics. He can receive dribble handoffs and get into catch and shoot threes. He can operate as a pick and roll ball-handler and get to his spot, but has a flatter shot off the dribble lacking backspin. He doesn't have much lift or elevation getting off the ground to generate the power to get his shot up higher. His shot isn't as flat in catch and shoot scenarios, which makes it a more efficient and quality look.

Wieu Atuer
Position: F
Height: 6 Feet 9 Inches
Team: Orangeville Prep
Class: 2027
Uncommitted
Wieu Atuer is at his best as a rim running big in transition. He is quick, explosive, and fluid for his size, allowing him to outrun opposing team's bigs and making it harder for them to keep up with the pace he plays at. In the half-court, he operates as a pick and roll player. He sets good hard picks and executes short rolls for a push shot. He can get extra possessions and second-chance opportunities with his length and long arms. He can execute cuts to the rim. Overall, he doesn't finish through contact and loses body control but he doesn't shy away from it, absorbs it, and gets to the free-throw line. He will need to get stronger to finish through contact and maintain body control. He can operate in dribble handoffs where he either sets up the shooter for a catch and shoot three or fakes it, takes a few dribbles, and gets to the rim.
